Landing your dream job isn’t an easy task. Landing your dream job during a pandemic is an even larger task. However, this wasn’t the case for Jennifer Hall who is a recent graduate of the Merrill Institute.
In early 2020, Jennifer found herself feeling the economic effects of COVID when her employer executed layoffs during the stay at home order in March. She knew she needed to quickly take action to find a more stable position that would provide for her family. Jennifer opted to pursue her interest and past experience in welding at the Merrill Institute.
Jennifer began the 12-week program in September (2020) and graduated with a nationally recognized AWS Sense Level I certificate three short months later (December 2020). Knowing that manufacturing activity has grown to the highest it’s been since August of 2018, Jennifer set her sights on a welding position with a pontoon boat manufacturer that has shown remarkable growth throughout the pandemic.
During her venture at the Merrill Institute, Jennifer took advantage of the resume and career assistance, preparing a biography and updated resume to send to the manufacturer. From there, she found herself with an interview and by early January, landed her dream job!
