PROUD DOD SKILLBRIDGE PARTNER


The Merrill Institute is honored to be an official Department of Defense (DOD) SkillBridge partner. This partnership allows us to welcome active-duty service members into our comprehensive welding certification program.

Train While Still Serving
Through the SkillBridge program, service members can attend the Merrill Institute while continuing to receive their military compensation and benefits. This unique opportunity offers a seamless transition into the civilian workforce by equipping participants with hands-on experience and industry-recognized certifications.

How to Get Started

  1. Contact Education and Training Assistant: Contact Rayann Carter via email: [email protected] or phone: (989) 462-0322. Ext. 8102. Once initial contact has been made, apply for the semester of interest here.
  2. Schedule Meeting: We will schedule a date and time for a virtual meeting with you to complete a tour of the institute and an interview.
  3. Complete Assessment: You must complete an assessment test. The minimum pass grade is 75% to be considered for the program.
  4. Submit Resume: Submit an updated resume to the Education and Training Assistant. Recommendation letters and character assessment letters are welcomed.
  5. Decision: Once all four steps are completed, our team will determine acceptation or rejection into the program.
  6. Now What? If accepted, you must register for your Post 9/11 G.I. Bill benefits. We will also need approval from your chain of command to participate in this DOD SkillBridge program. If approved by your chain of command, you will be allowed to attend training with us at the Merrill Institute.
